Reminder: Pending Notification Emails

As well as the annoying spam emails trying to get you to unsubscribe which only confirms your email address as active and opens you to more spam, there is also another type of spam emails flooding our inboxes, mainly from emails that have been harvested or machines that have been infected with so called Zombie trojans where the contents of your address box are used to both send to, and from, bogus Facebook friend notifications.

All the sending bot is trying to get you to do is click on one of "Notification" or "Friend Request" links which actually point to a hacked web page or fake drug sales web site.

Most come from email addresses you've never heard of and start Reminder: Pending Notification or Friend Request. Delete them without opening and never, ever click a link in them, they only advertise that your email is active and opens you to yet more spam.

Email Confirmation: Likewise any email requesting your confirmation of your email address, is 99% fake and often links you to yet another scam for fake drug sites. Don't click, don't try to unsubscribe, it's all a Scam.

The best way to spot these is to use Mailwasher, if you've only got the one email account, try the free version, it works well. Multiple accounts require the paid version. They both work by previewing your email and show the actual URL where these links actually go.
